Portuguese event to take place from 21 to 26 September as the fourth round of the World Rally-Raid Championship
The bp Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal will take place from 21 to 26 September 2027, moving from the opening phase of the FIA-FIM World Rally-Raid Championship to the decisive stage of the season.
The Portuguese event will be the fourth of five rounds on the 2027 calendar, followed only by the Rallye OLA Energie du Maroc, which will once again bring the championship to a close from 24 to 29 October.
This will mark the fourth consecutive appearance of the bp Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal on the world championship calendar, further strengthening its position as the championship’s only European round and one of the leading international events in the discipline.
The new date is part of a wider reorganisation of the calendar, designed to increase the time between rounds and give teams and competitors more time to prepare.
Following the Dakar, which will take place from 1 to 15 January, the championship will continue with the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge from 21 to 26 March. The South African Safari Rally will then return from 14 to 19 June, before the championship heads to Portugal in September and the titles are decided in Morocco at the end of October.
There will be a gap of around three months between the South African round and the bp Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal. The Portuguese event will then be separated from the championship finale by four weeks, more than twice the interval seen in 2025.
According to David Castera, Motorsport Director at Amaury Sport Organisation, the championship promoter, the new calendar rhythm is intended to help teams reduce costs and integrate their rally-raid programmes more easily into their wider sporting schedules.
With a new date and once again positioned in the final part of the championship, the bp Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal is preparing to welcome the world’s leading drivers, riders, teams and manufacturers back to Portugal in 2027.
