Check out some of the highlights of the bp Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal, which runs from Grândola to the Algarve until Sunday.
From 17 to 22 March, off-road racing fans will be able to watch the bp Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal unfold live, an event featuring some of the world’s best riders. The race starts in Grândola and finishes in Loulé, passing through Badajoz. This is the first round to count towards the FIM-FIA World Rally-Raid Championship, following the Dakar Rally earlier this year.
The motorbikes will be the first to take to the tracks in Grândola, with the prologue scheduled for 1pm on the 17th. The start ceremony for the motorbikes is scheduled for 6.15 pm and for the cars at 7 pm, preceded by an autograph session at 5.30 pm and a press conference open to the public at 4.15 pm.
The bp Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal gets off to a flying start on the morning of the 18th, with the first stage from Grândola to Grândola, whilst the bivouac is scheduled to open to the public at 6 pm. The medal ceremony will also take place in the service park at 7 pm.
On Thursday the 19th, the race convoy heads to Spain for the second stage from Grândola to Badajoz. The medal ceremony at 7 pm will be open to the public, who will also have access to the bivouac from 6 pm. On the 20th, the service park will remain open to the public, with competitors tackling the Badajoz-Badajoz stage.
The fourth stage will take place first thing in the morning on the tracks between the city of Badajoz and Loulé, in the Algarve, and the bivouac at the Algarve Stadium will open to the public at 6 pm, with the medal ceremony at 7 pm. 22 March marks the final day of competition, with stage 5 from Loulé to Loulé, and the final podium ceremonies scheduled to begin at 1 pm at Vilamoura Marina.
