Travelling halfway around the world to take part in the bp Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal.
From the Antipodes to Grândola, travelling over 18,000 kilometres to compete in the Portuguese off-road race that counts towards the World Championship. This is one of the challenges that some of the Australian drivers – such as Daniel Sanders – taking part in the bp Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal had to overcome. But they are not the only ones. With one of the most diverse line-ups of participants ever, with 27 countries represented, this year’s edition has people from all over the world converging on the Alentejo.
From Santiago de Chile – home of Lucio Alvarez – to Grândola is around ten thousand kilometres; from Argentina – the birthplace of Luciano Benavides – the same distance. And from the steppes of Mongolia – where Murun Purevdorj comes from – to the plains of the Alentejo, a good 8,800 kilometres. Figures that aptly represent the five continents represented in the bp Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal.
