The leader of the World Motocross Championship sports a deeply meaningful tattoo on his arm.
Luciano Benavides arrives at the bp Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal as the leader of the World Motocross Championship. The KTM rider tops the entry list for the two-wheel category and sports a deeply meaningful tattoo on his left arm. The symbol is recognised by all fans of the sport. It is a replica of the Dakar trophy, a race the Argentine won for the first time just over a month ago.
Benavides had to compete in the TT marathon nine times before he finally reached the top step of the podium. The tattoo clearly shows this. Not only does it record the attempts where he failed to achieve his ultimate goal, but it also highlights, in red, the one where he reached the top of the podium. To top it off, he also recorded the time it took him to complete the distance and beat the runner-up, Ricky Brabec (Honda), who finished... two seconds behind!
