BFGoodrich is the official tire supplier of the World Rally-Raid Championship (W2RC). The brand brought six different types of tires to the bp Ultimate Rally Raid Portugal and carried out around 100 tire changes per day across all categories.
The American tire manufacturer has a long and victorious history in off-road racing. Since 1993, it has won the Dakar Rally 17 times with five different manufacturers: Mitsubishi, Volkswagen, Mini, Peugeot, and Toyota.
BFGoodrich operates differently from most other tire manufacturers involved in motorsport. Teams and drivers purchase their tires in their home countries and transport them to the events. Then, at each bivouac of the World Championship, BFGoodrich provides a free service (mounting and tire replacement) for the entire rally caravan — from factory teams to amateur competitors.
It’s worth noting that factory teams with Gold and Platinum-status drivers use exactly the same high-performance tires, as required by the FIA. For the categories that use smaller tires, there are different options depending on the terrain — whether rocky or sandy.
During the event organized by the Automóvel Club de Portugal (ACP), BFGoodrich performed around 100 tire changes per day. Drivers simply had to show up at the service area. The manufacturer supplied six types of tires, each with specific features and dimensions tailored for Toyota, Dacia, Ford, and Mini. All of them were carefully designed to ensure maximum traction, speed, durability, and adaptability to the unique challenges of the terrain.
